Trillium Court's new subdivision (con't)

The area is one of two sites originally earmarked as a new location for Trillium Court.

It’s located south of the Heritage Plaza strip mall across the street from Windsor Crossing Outlet Mall, adjacent to a large undeveloped field.

Holy Cross elementary school is also in the immediate area.

The other site was a narrow strip off Cousineau Rd. between Talbot Rd. (Hwy. 3) and Huron Church Line.

The subdivision will accommodate 56 semi-detached units on individual lots.

“The units are being constructed using a ‘like-for-like’ scenario,” said Kevin DeVos, Project Manager, Ministry of Transportation, Windsor Border Initiatives Implementation Group.

“This means that a Trillium Court resident who currently resides in a two bedroom, one bathroom unit will be relocated to a unit at the new Trillium Court location with the same features, equal in size.”

Criteria for the new site included proximity to public transit, shopping, schools, municipal services and similar lot sizes.

According to a newsletter to tenants Site 1 simply scored better or evenly-ranked on all counts.

The tenants will receive “a new home similar to what you have now,” one moving allowance per household, a moving company paid by MTO, and a “coordinated move date in mid-2012.”

A tenant committee was created to provide input into the process subject to approval by the organization that runs Trillium Court and MTO.

The organization that runs Trillium is River Park Non-Profit Housing Corp. under direction of City of Windsor as the service manager.

House designs are still being worked on by local architectural firm Archon Architects Inc.
