But there are no bicycle lanes along the busy corridor.
The same is true for pedestrians.
A sidewalk runs along the road from Amherstburg to south of River Canard, then is interrupted for a few kilometres until another sidewalk begins north of the river.
Mustac said planners would “identify if that’s the right place” to make a connection then recommend bike lanes or a sidewalk link.
A public meeting in May asking for input attracted 30 or 40 people but “we were hoping for a lot more.”
Mustac said there will be another meeting in late August or September.
Eventually there could be trail networks connecting Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent.
Mustac said the natural conditions here are ideal, with flat terrain and moderate climate.
“The barriers are minimal that way.”
If money is approved the first work would probably be low budget items like painting bike lanes on roads.
“We might start with something a little more affordable like line painting and signing as opposed to full build out.
“But really the priorities for the network would be over a 20 – 25 year period. It’s not a quick answer.”
