 Food blog stresses local
She started thinking, “What are we going to feed our kids, because there’s all these crazy food scares” and other concerns about processed foods.
She knew a lot of Essex County producers don’t sell foods with preservatives or additives. And local produce often just “tasted better.” As Rose made a point of shopping for more and more local foods throughout the city and county her friends would ask where she bought them from. That’s when she decided it might be a neat idea to start a blog devoted just to local food. The result is MyLocalFoodBlog.com – “The resource for local food in Windsor and Essex County.” Rose covers a wide variety of food topics – from a business producing a new line of bread, to home delivery services, to classes about herbs. The blog doesn’t cover only producers who use local ingredients. It also covers businesses that are based locally but sell interesting products even if the ingredients might not come from the Essex County area. “There’s a lot of bakeries I’ll go to just because they’re making things from scratch,” she says. Rose says it all comes down to supporting local agriculture and food. “I just like to eat locally because it supports people in my community.”
