Some of the GOP have argued it’s a waste of taxpayer funds especially considering Michigan’s deplorable economic condition. But let’s look at the Legislature’s make-up. As of last November the Michigan Senate had 22 Republicans versus the Democrats 16. The lower Michigan House had a majority of Democratic to Republican members 67 to 43. Wow, those anti-DRIC senators must carry an awful lot of weight, especially when you have Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, strongly cheerleading for DRIC and, from all appearances at the rally, a wide cross section of Michigan’s political and economic elite. But, and just asking, where was the U.S. federal government’s (which is supposedly onside with DRIC) presence?
